FAQs

  • Determining if therapy is right for you, or if now is the right time, is a deeply personal journey, with no “right answer” that works for everyone. However, these are some signs it may be beneficial for you:

    • If you suspect you have an eating disorder or disordered eating, you may believe you can manage it on your own, or may believe your struggles are not causing you enough of an impairment to require professional guidance and support. You deserve a space to feel heard and supported to heal your relationship with your body, with food and, ultimately, with inner yourself.

    • Feeling overwhelmed: Likewise, if you're experiencing persistent feelings of sadness, anxiety, or stress that interfere with daily life, therapy can provide support and more helpful coping strategies.

    • Desire for personal growth: If you’re looking to understand yourself better, set goals, or improve your overall well-being, therapy can be a valuable resource.

    • You are seeking clarity: If you're facing a significant life change or decision, therapy can help you explore your thoughts and feelings more deeply.

    • Difficulty managing emotions: If you struggle with intense emotions or find it hard to express yourself, therapy can help you understand and manage these feelings.

    • Personal or professional relationship challenges: If you’re having difficulty in your relationships, either personal or professional, therapy can offer insights and tools for improvement.

    • Trauma or past experiences: If you've experienced trauma or difficult events, talking to a therapist can provide a safe space to process and heal from those experiences.

Most importantly, remember, seeking therapy is a sign of strength and self-awareness. If you're unsure, consider scheduling an initial consultation to discuss your feelings and concerns. Many people find that this first step can be very enlightening. I would be honored to be your ally and to support you on your journey.

  • I find it helpful to work together weekly at first, and reassess as needed. This is particularly beneficial to develop our relationship and to build on the momentum achieved in therapy.

In our individual therapy sessions, we will work together to delve into your inner landscape, identifying the root causes of your emotional challenges and fostering self-awareness that promotes lasting change. We will work together to explore the different areas of your life in order to uncover unhelpful beliefs and patterns that influence your thoughts, feelings and behaviors. We will explore, process and heal past traumas that may be affecting your current lived experiences.

Our work will emphasize understanding, self-compassion, self-acceptance, and personal growth to strengthen your sense of self and enable you to live an authentic life.

To that end, I integrate various therapeutic modalities, including relational psychodynamic therapy, cognitive behavioral techniques, solution-focused skills, and somatic interventions, to empower you in overcoming life's difficulties with resilience and confidence.

We will also work to develop different coping strategies for managing stress, navigate challenging emotions, and disrupt unhelpful patterns. We will create sustainable change by developing new ways of thinking, feeling, acting, and relating to yourself and others in order to further build on your resilience.

  • I am out-of-network provider, which means I am not directly in network with any insurance companies. However, I do provide superbills at the start of each month to submit to insurance for reimbursement, and many insurance plans provide out-of-network coverage for mental health care.

Different insurance plans offer different benefits, so the amount you are reimbursed depends on your specific plan’s out-of-network coverage benefit for mental health. Below is a list of questions you can ask your insurance provider:

    • Does my plan have out-of-network coverage for mental health?

    • What is my deductible?

    • What is my coinsurance (the amount I have to pay once my deductible is met)?

    • How do I submit superbills for reimbursement?

    • If they need a billing code, you can let them know it is 90837.

  • Insurance companies often impose limitations on the types of treatment they cover, as well as limits on the duration of coverage. This significantly impacts my ability to tailor treatment and to provide individual care for each client.

When you’re working with an out-of-network therapist, you are in control of your mental health care decisions, regardless of your insurance company’s limitations and restrictions — and you can still submit for reimbursement within those limits!

  • I do offer a limited number of sliding scale slots for people who can’t afford the full cost of treatment. If you are seeking treatment but can not afford the full fee, please reach out to see if I have any sliding scale slots available.
